The PDN Photo Plus Trade show is rated to be one of the top trade shows of photography and is said to be on the cutting edge of what’s happening in photography and imaging. “Since 1983 we’ve put on the leading show in the industry – attracting all the exhibitors you want to see, and the industry names you want to network with!” Anti Anti went to see what all the buzz was about and got a chance to check out the new EOS 5D and to sneak in a shot with Vincent Laforet, creator of the first video shot with the EOS 5D that was posted earlier. To take a peek at what was in the expo and check out some videos click here.

OLEDs: PRINTABLE LIGHTS
October 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Check out this article from CNN on OLEDs. They report that GE has created a massive OLED panel printer to be used for lighting. The huge machine prints out thin layers of flexible plastic, covers them with chemicals, and seals them with foil, so they’ll glow a frosty blue/white when an electrical current is applied. The sheets owe their luminance to compounds known as organic light-emitting diodes (hence OLEDs). General Electric hopes to get all the tweaks worked out and put the panels into full production by 2010.

Thankfully, not all “new social networking” takes place over the internet… Jelly started in NYC in February of 2006 when roommates Amit and Luke realized that they loved working from home, but they missed the creative brainstorming, sharing, and camaraderie of a traditional office. So, they invited people to work from their home for the day. The success of that day sparked more & more meetings that eventually became “Jelly.” They welcome everyone from designers, developers, and internet types, to musicians, cooks, sound designers, tea sommeliers, product designers, photographers, writers, and more. Find how to start your own Jelly here.

In 17 major cities around the world, 8 different time zones, including Dubai, Athens, Amsterdam, Milan, Paris, New York, Helsinki, London and more (all at the same time!). Inspired by the old European traveling circuses, tomorrow’s Brooklyn party features performances by heavy-hitters like M.I.A, N*E*R*D, Hot Chip & Franz Ferdinand. We’ll be there too, and will hopefully have some shots from the party later in the weekend. Did we mention there will be free food & boos for all? It’s looking to be an over the top event… find out more info here.

(Rendering courtesty of the Madison Square Park Conservancy.)
Coming to Madison Square Park… Your heartbeat brought to life by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s Pulse Park light installation. The interactive event will be on view from October 24 to Nov 17. The installation will use the vital signs of spectators, measured by two heart rate sensing sculptures installed at each opposite ends of the park.
