ETIQUETA NEGRA IN NYC

February 10, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Etiqueta Negra is a new Argentinian brand opened its first North American store around the corner from our office in Soho, NYC. High quality clothing with a Latin touch. Beautiful store, amazingly crafted clothes. They are like the Latin Ralph Lauren, at prices a little bit higher than a Banana Republic. The store’s vibe transports you to a classic luxury Polo Club in Argentina.

The Pedestrian Project consists of several performers wearing entirely black custom-made costumes modeled after the generic images of men, women, and children seen on public signs. Mimicking the lives of everyday people, the roaming sculptural forms inspire the imaginations of onlookers, who often find themselves mesmerized as these familiar icons assume busy lives of their own.

Called “Defenestration” (a word literally meaning “to throw out of a window”), this installation by Brian Goggin was created with the help of over 100 volunteers at the corner of Sixth and Howard Streets in San Francisco, in an abandoned four-story tenement building. Reflecting the harsh experience of many members of the community, the furniture is also of the streets, cast-off and unappreciated.

I wanted to get art out of the gallery and out of the museum,” said, Brian Goggin. “I’m interested in working with absurdity in ways that are compelling and entertaining.
